Keith Tong, B.HSc., HHP, DNM

Co-founder of Pure5 Wellness Hub

“My mission is to educate, empower, and inspire individuals and families to take control of their health rather than suffer with unnecessary illness or disease.”

Keith Tong is a graduate of the international Quantum University for Integrative Medicine with multiple credentials in holistic health, including a bachelor’s degree in holistic health science. He is currently a holistic healthcare practitioner and continues to expand his knowledge and skills through the masters degree program, and eventually the doctorate program in Integrative and Natural Medicine. This approach to healthcare is where he has found his life’s work.

In the business world, he is first and foremost an entrepreneur. He spent many years in various industries in Canada, working for someone else. After marrying, Helen and Keith became partners in both life and business. Full of energy and idealism, they opened a pharmacy and were soon doing something they loved and believed in. Within 6 years, they successfully opened two more pharmacies. At their peak, these businesses grossed over $5 million dollars in revenue, employed over 40 people and filled a thousand prescriptions per day.

Nine years into their business ventures, Keith and Helen decided to embark on an entirely new path for helping people with health issues. Rather than sell drugs, they wanted to help prevent disease and ease symptoms and decided to open a new business with a more personal line of services. The Pure5 Wellness Hub is a well-appointed clinic offering a wide range of natural health care solutions and therapeutic method that help the body heal. The high quality of services and calibre of therapists form exactly what the name describes: a wellness hub.

Helen T.M. Tong, RphT, B.HSc., HHP

Co-Founder of Pure5 Wellness Hub

Helen has worked in the pharmacy industry since 1988, spanning the retail trade from medical clinic dispensaries to national chain drug stores, ultimately becoming a successful outside sales representative for a national pharmaceutical company. Helen taught classes for the Pharmacy Assistant Program at MTI Community College. After opening her first pharmacy, she broadened her career by becoming a registered pharmacy technician through the British Columbia College of Pharmacists and was certified by the Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada.

Helen has said, “If we have one main core belief, it’s that we have a strong moral obligation to help people create value in their lives through our community, our staff members and our customers. This is the foundational belief of any business system we develop.” This personal vision led to establishing Pure5 Wellness Hub.

Helen Tong is a graduate of the international Quantum University for Integrative Medicine with a bachelor’s degree in holistic health science. She is currently a holistic healthcare practitioner, and continues to expand her knowledge and skills through the masters degree program at Quantum University, with plans to complete the doctorate program in Integrative and Natural Medicine.

Susan Jung, Registered Acupuncturist, B.Sc

With an interest in the human body since childhood, Susan pursued studies in biology at SFU. Through various volunteer positions, including St. Joseph Hospital in London, Ontario, she interacted with many long-term care patients and realized the huge importance of maintaining one’s health. This realization prompted her to switch her studies to Traditional Chinese Medicine, as these types of treatments help people with chronic and complicated diseases. With her enthusiasm in TCM, she also attended the clinical study and observation program at The Korean Medicine Hospital of Kyung Hee University, Korea.

Susan uses diverse TCM techniques based on each client’s condition, such as facial, scalp and ear acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, acu-pressure, cupping and moxibustion – a form of heat therapy in which dried plant materials (moxa) are burned near the surface of the skin to warm and invigorate the flow of qi in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences. Her treatments address a broad range of conditions and illnesses including musculo-skeletal pain, traumatic injuries, digestive issues, gynecological problems, sleeping disorders, emotional disturbance, and facial rejuvenation. Her ultimate goal is to help every patient improve their health and find a balanced life.

Susan graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2009 with a bachelor of science degree, then completed the five-year doctorate program (acupuncture and TCM herbs) at the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver.

Stephanie Running, RMT

Stephanie Running grew up in the Fraser Valley; her personal interests include gatherings with family and friends, travel and competitive Irish dance. As a dancer, Stephanie found massage therapy to be the most effective way to maintain her health and deal with injury.

Stephanie moved to Vancouver to attend Langara college, where she found herself dabbling in general studies, but her heart always brought her back to massage and health.

Stephanie is very proud to have been a part of the first class to graduate from Langara’s registered massage therapy program, where she had the opportunity to work with athletes, clients with traumatic spinal cord injuries as well as the general public, including the elderly and hospice patients. She acquired her RMT diploma in December of 2015 and passed her board exams the following spring.

As the newest member of the Pure5 Wellness Hub family, Stephanie looks forward to expanding her knowledge base, assisting patients of every kind and giving back to the profession. By the end of my appointment my headache was gone. It was crazy. I am looking forward to my future treatments and living life headache free.”

Long Term Should Pain Testimonials

About a year I had pain during sleep . First acupuncture treatment was very good. The pain was significantly lessened. That night I slept without pain.

— Marion G. from British Columbia

Low Back Pain after car accident Testimonials

I have been taking massage therapy and chiropractic treatments due to my auto accident in April 2015. The above didn’t work for me. Finally I took ten acupunctures. Now I can easily walk and work without any pain. I recommended to ICBC to offer this option to the claimants as acupuncture is more effective. I feel of a new person with stamina energies to work 8 to 10 hours a day.

— Onofrio C. from British Columbia

Ulcerative Colitis

I have a condition that has been with me for several years. So far, regular medical treatment has helped somewhat but episodes have kept recurring. Trained medically and scientifically, and especially since my health and longevity is on the line, I am doubtful about many things too outside the mainstream, sceptical of promises that don’t deliver, and need to see results to give any approval. I have now had two sessions of three weeks each, including with herbal treatments, with Alexander Bao. For the first session, I thought it was the herbals giving relief, since all major symptoms went away when I started them. During the break between sessions, symptoms seemed to come back a bit, so I tried a second one. For the second session, the herbals came a bit later yet symptoms were once again gone. Thank you Alexander Bao for helping me find a distinctly better state of health than I’ve had in years. Yes, I am going for further treatments.

— John R. from British Columbia

Bladder Urgency

I have been having bladder problems-pain, frequency urgency, bladder spasms for more than 2 years. Medication did not work . I did not have a bladder infection , it just felt like it. Since I have been having acupuncture treatments all those symptoms have stopped and my bladder is functioning normally.
